What is worship?
The best definition of worship is to attribute value to something or someone. True worship is a about the heart. It needs to be genuine and not a ritual.
True worship is a sincere expression of love, adulation, admiration, fascination, celebration and amazement. It takes hold of your heart and soul. When we praise God for who He is and what He’s done, we are transformed from the inside out.
Why is worshipping God so important?
It is important to set aside time in our day to worship Him. To tell and show Him what He means to us. In those quiet moments, we hear His voice the clearest. Every day we need to adopt a new mindset not just on Sundays. In everything we do, we must acknowledge Him.
What happens when we worship God?
When we worship God, we humble ourselves before Him. We acknowledge that He is sovereign. We stop thinking of ourselves and focus on Him. The best way to explain what happens when we worship God is to take a glance at Isaiah 6:
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory." At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke (v.1–4).
When we worship God, we stop and place all of our thoughts on Him. It helps us give our full attention and love back to Him. It causes us to remember how wonderful omnipotent and omnipresent He is. Our selfish characters are set aside to acknowledge the creator of all. We see God in all His glory and we are reminded of how small we are. |
